Things feel bleak right now, and it is not helped by cold, overcast skies and the end of season sparseness in a season of COVID-19 that is sweeping the planet.  However, we will get through if we can adopt social distancing and help our healthcare systems to weather the storm of people.

The reality will be that people will be impacted by this.  In fact, as I type this, a colleague of mine just tweeted out that he has been in the ICU with a case of COVID-19.  This hits home, and makes real the idea that talking this pandemic away will not make it go away.  Politicizing it will not make it go away.  Praying it away will not make it go away.  We have to do something about it, which means taking active measures for social distancing, ensuring testing is accessible and available, and investing in science, research, and healthcare.

This will happen again in the course of humanity…  We should be better prepared than we were this time.
