There has been a change in the weather… Days are a bit warmer making the walks to work more pleasant.  However, this of course is complicated by the complete chaos that the world is undergoing in response to COVID-19.  Effectively all my travel to give talks or attend meetings has been cancelled through June, and we are implementing policies to practice social distancing to prevent spread of this coronavirus, as well as other practices.  The list of cancellation emails in my inbox from other speakers around the world is long as well as classes being held at universities across the world.

I worry about the impact this will have on musicians, food service workers, people that work in all the arenas where professional sports are played, and games cancelled.  If you think just a little bit about how many people’s lives are going to be substantially impacted by this, it ends up being a huge swath of humanity.  My request to all of you is to please work from a place of empathy and compassion.  And know that there are people all around us who are going to be struggling financially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.  Help them out where you can.
