I had a chance to catch up with a childhood hero of mine and share a meal or two with Rodney Mullen at the last SciFoo at Google X a couple weeks ago. In addition to his history in skating, Rodney has an intense interest in the kinesthetics and science of how the brain interacts with body, and perceives its space and performs. He is one of the nicest, most humble guys ever, and it is always a treat to catch up with him.

The funny thing is: I’m not great at recognizing people, and the first time Rodney and I met, it was at a meeting where I was organizing a session orientation. Rodney was in that session and I did not put two and two together until I was walking out of the room looking at the names when… it… slowly… clicked in my brain.
