The last part of this year is a slog…  On Thursday, I finished and submitted a grant and then went for a walk.

Before the end of the year, the lab still needs to produce: 1 chapter, 2 manuscripts, 1 manuscript revision (presumably), 1 class taught, 1 NIH progress report written/submitted, another grant submitted, 1 grant reviewed, a student’s thesis committee meeting, an international trip to a meeting, an invited talk to give, and a tenure talk to give.  I have no idea how I’m going to get all of this done.  But this week was good and productive, and I did get to spend some time visiting with Jamie and Dave over dinner, which was nice.  Jamie was in town to work with Dave Mastronarde to tune the electron microscopes and see if we can overcome some of the technical issues we’ve been having and optimize the systems to speed capture.  We worked some things out in the lab and gave Taryn an opportunity to get to know and work directly with Jamie which was also an added bonus.

Next: Spending the weekend working on figures for a chapter…
