These images document a few glimpses out the window from my last flight from Salt Lake City to San Jose for SciFoo 2019. The evaporation ponds, West of Salt Lake City on the South end of the Great Salt Lake are a stunning palette of colors that represent mineral mining for magnesium and salts among others.
The flight continued along West across the West Desert and Salt Flats, passing Wendover Utah/Nevada where the first atomic bomb drops were tested, over the Sierra Nevadas and the Central Valley where much of America’s crops are grown.
