Camera: Apple iPhone X
Focal Length: 101mm equivalent
We’ve been taking daily extended walks over the holiday break which has been nice. The weather has been far too warm and we have not nearly enough snow in the mountains for this time of year. I worry about the water year setting up for 2018 because of it, and I’m not sure we have enough time in the year to make up for the lack of snowpack.
On these walks, I’ve been carrying just the iPhone X instead of a dedicated camera as an experiment, and for the most part have been pretty happy from a convenience standpoint. There are some issues of jpg compression at high zoom on the iPhone X that you can see on featureless backgrounds like the sky in this image for example. But all in all, it is a remarkable imaging device if there are enough photons. I still miss the dedicated camera though…
