Unfortunately, I did not have as much time here in Tvärminne as I had last time. The schedule this year did not allow for the extra day or two as I have grants to review for study section, manuscripts to review, a progress report to write, an NSF meeting to prepare for, faculty interviews for people applying to jobs with the Moran Eye Center, and an Academic Senate meeting to prepare for among other things, all in the next 3 weeks. This is not to mention my other R01 renewal that I have to start writing.

I did manage to do a little experiment with the new iPhone 14 Pro however with long exposure night photographs. You can see the impressive results below, along with a comparison frame from the Leica SL2-S camera to see what a full size, dedicated camera can do. Smartphones are absolutely coming to the place where they can replace cameras for most folks. And while they are truly impressive results, as you can see below, there is no substitute for a larger sensor size/imaging sites and good optics. Particularly check out the two images of the boat below, both shot at ISO 12,500.
