Snow… So Much Snow

We are suffering through day after day after day of snow here in the Wasatch Front. We’ve effectively had snow every 3 days this season.  The snow is desperately needed as we’ve been in a historic drought with unprecedented growth at the same time. The thing that concerns me is that we’ve got over 850 inches of snow this season up in the mountains which is a record.  Come warmer weather however, that snow is going to come down as melt water.  The bad part is that I remember the floods of 83/84 that resulted from this runoff, so I am hoping for a gentle warming, rather than a dramatic heating as spring extends into summer.

  1. What spring?
I just hope that the cities and county are doing their best to prepare for the melting. That should help the Salt Lake and hopefully all the other reservoirs as well. My father in law lives on a mountain-side on Bear Lake and they have more snow than he has ever seen up there, too.
