H and I walked down to Allen Park this weekend, to see an area of the city that we’ve never seen before. Granted, we never saw it because it was private property, with an interesting history. You can read about the history in the link above, but for me, the interesting aspects were the feeling of post-apocalyptic ruin. Even though people had been living in Allen Park until just a couple of years ago, the buildings were run down, and suffering the ravages of time.
It will be interesting to see what happens, ultimately to this property now that the city has taken over it. I’d love to see the main house below, restored and renovated into some sort of meeting or educational space.
