This little parallel dark lined structure coming across the image is a ~5-7 micrometer wide wrinkle in this retinal tissue sample. It seems to be a rule that if you are going to have some aberrant feature like this that crops up in your dataset, it will go right across a feature that you are wanting to see/quantify.
