My friend and colleague, Andras Lakatos (@LakatosLab) invited me to Cambridge to deliver a seminar on our work in retinal connectivity and plasticity, and to discuss a collaboration between our labs to leverage our expertise with Andras’ work exploring astrocyte/neuron/synapse interactions using computational and organoid approaches in neurodegenerative diseases. The focus of Andras’s lab is on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, another devastating neurodegenerative disease. I am hopeful that we can find common mechanisms between the diseases we study to leverage the search for therapies to treat them.
Thank you Andras for a wonderful visit, and the resulting conversation and exploration. Looking forward to more data to come out of this.
