Autumn is my favorite month. I like long, drawn out autumns with cool mornings where it warms up nicely enough to just go out with a light jacket at most. I love the long wavelengths of light and the low angles where it creates dappled light filtering through trees.
I am also seriously impressed with the image quality of the iPhone XS cameras, particularly in bright flare like the image below. Normally, the color saturation would have been completely washed out in an image like that on most cell phone camera systems. The other place that I am finding enjoyment with cell phone cameras is the macro ability which is completely absent in my rangefinder cameras without some dedicated hardware. I’ll not be giving up my dedicated cameras, but I’ll go on walks now without them which for me is a change. I’ve even gone on a vacation for the first time in my modern history without a dedicated camera which should say something about how good these camera systems in phones are getting.

Mature trees. The lack of those is one of the biggest downsides to building a house in the far-away, brand-new neighborhoods like in West Jordan where I moved in 2013. And I didn’t even think I’d miss them until after the move.
Yeah, we figured trees have cut our summer electrical bills by 30%. I wish that developers would plant trees as soon as they start building houses. They are so important.
Oh, we do have trees. They were planted by the developer too. But they are about 2 inches diameter trunks and about 10 feet tall … it’ll take many many years until our neighborhood looks more like Sugarhouse. Love that area, but couldn’t afford it.
