Our dear friend Melinda (@Melindrift) stopped by the lab yesterday for a portrait session.  She needed a headshot for an upcoming international seminar she was delivering and given the insanely tight schedule I’m under, I figured if she could swing by the lab, we could make it happen Strobist Style.

After we got the shot or two that I wanted for a professional head shot, the rest were more fun.  However, given that we were in a biomedical lab, I wanted to make the background disappear as much as possible into a blur.  So, technically, while shooting portraits at f/1.2 is ill advised and much more challenging, I opened the lens all the way which gave us nice isolation from the computers, circuit diagrams and equations written on the walls and images of retinas which don’t make for good business imagery.

Thanks Melinda. Its always good to see you, catch up and work with you.
