While working on some manuscript reviews late at night, I’m watching folks try and hack into Webvision.  Its scary how often hacking attempts are made when a computer is connected in any way shape or form to the Internet and Webvision and in fact, this blog, Jonesblog is hit daily with hacking attempts from all over the planet.  Most of these attempts are scripts, but on occasion, like this one, there are humans behind the attack that are trying to compromise these systems for their own advantage.

This post is appropriate I suppose given the talk I watched last night on cybersecurity.  If you have any interest at all into cybersecurity, you really do owe it to yourself to watch Dan Geer’s Cybersecurity as Realpolitik (also available as text) at Black Hat 2014.  The content of this talk really is phenomenally interesting and well worth an hour of your time.  Thanks to Robert Marc for pointing that talk out to me.
