Monument To The Dead, Constantine 1943

On top of Sidi M’Cid in Sidi Bel Abbés, Algeria is the Monument to the Dead, itself a copy of the Trajan arch at Timgad.  Winged Victory is on top of the arch just out of the camera frame.  This car is a 1936 Buick staff car belonging to Col. Beverly who was Col. Ayling’s chief of staff.  Col. Ayling was the commanding officer of 2nd Service Area Command in Algeria.  The two gentlemen in the frame are unidentified.

Its interesting, but I am unable to find hardly any modern photographs of this monument other than this one on Flickr.  The full, original picture from 1943 is below:
