It is time to announce our sixth Utah Photowalk which will be held on February 23rd at the John A. Moran Eye Center from 9am-1pm. This photowalk will be an indoor event with some opportunity for outside excursions centered around two themes. First off will be a Photoshop tutorial by Ann Torrence who will be presenting a preview of her workshop at the Moab Photo Symposium with the focus on blending, mixing and remixing, a subject uniquely Ann. Ann’s presentation will show us how to use the extensive number of tools in Adobe Photoshop dedicated to layer blending modes and the options palette. She says that “we will learn how to use blending modes for quick exposure corrections, then explore creative uses of blending modes combined with filters and adjustment layers. Lastly, we will composite several layers to create new ways of looking at our images. This tutorial will take about 90 minutes and if time allows, Ann will include a table-top demo that shows how to shoot a remix.

The other items on the agenda for the Photowalk after the tutorial are architectural photography of the new John A. Moran Eye Center, a structure comprised of two buildings in one with a fantastic glassed in atrium combined with some opportunities to photograph some scientific lab space, complete with microscopes small and large, glassware, computers and more which is something that Rich should be able to preview for you in the coming days.

Finally, I should note that Jeremy has finished editing his video of the last photowalk and posted it to Google here. I want to say thank you to Jeremy and hope that he continues these efforts at documenting our events.
