The Viking Annotation System

test
  • Viking is a multi-user, web-based collaborative management system for images and volumes which allows users to view multi-terabyte datasets, annotate images with their own schemas and summarize the results. Viking was developed by Dr. James Anderson at the Marc lab for use with the first retinal connectome RC1, assembled using Automated Transmission Electron Microscopy (ATEM) and Computational Molecular Phenotyping (CMP).

  • To get an idea of how Viking works you can download a movie (2.5 minutes) which highlights basic features: VikingDemo.mp4

  • Viking browses images collected and registered into a volume. The Scientific Computing Institute's image registration tools (IRIS) are available at CONNECTOME RESOURCES

  • A description of our open-source software Viking for browsing and analyzing connectomes. This paper also contains public release of a standard test volume for automated process tracking. The Cover article for the January issue of the journal.
