Science Images This category will include images that are scientifically derived, but also have artistic value. We are fortunate in that much of our work lends itself to beautiful images and as notable examples arise, I will post them here. Prints of any of these images may be made by request. The intro image is a murine eye that was processed with computational molecular phenotyping. This image is a subset of the data with three labels, Taurine, Glutamine and Glutamate assigned to red, green and blue color channels respectively. The cool thing about this image is that is demonstrates how uniform cells maintain their small molecular signatures. All of the identical cell types posses the same small molecular fingerprint among thousands and thousands of cells. ![]() From an experiment in one of the more sophisticated retinas in the animal kingdom, the goldfish or Carassius auratus auratus. Without going into detail, this image also shows an amacrine cell never before described in the literature. ![]() A hippocampus also processed with computational molecular phenotyping. I began this project as a new graduate student exploring epilepsy and got distracted with my work in retinal degenerations. I hope to come back to this work sometime in the not too distant future. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted: Thu - December 29, 2005 at 01:28 PM |
