Ramashala and more snorkeling





We started out the morning with H going for a run leaving me to take pictures of Ramashala where I found this lovely little Southern Carolina anole (Anolis carolinensis seminolus). This species of course is another introduced species into Hawaii and they have again, been quite successful. I don't know if there are any downsides to having anoles is Hawaii, but if they have any impact on reducing the mosquito population, then I'm all for 'em.





Of course there are other lizard species in Hawaii too as evidenced by this beautiful little gekko. This one I believe is a Mourning gecko (Lepidodactylus lugubris) and was found running all over our walls and windows in search of breakfast.





Of course there are invertebrates all throughout the surrounding gardens such as this spider (Argiope appensa I think)














After the photography and running, the rest of the day was spent snorkeling over on the Kona side in Kealakekua Bay and Kahalu'u Beach Park before heading back to Ramashala late in the evening. We actually arrived a bit later than expected due to a car accident a couple of miles ahead on the coastal highway. The road is only two lanes wide, so delays from accidents or weather can be fairly significant. I don't know if anybody was injured or not, but an ambulance did drive by. We ended up waiting about an hour before things were cleared up which in the grand scheme was not too bad, as in true Hawaiian fashion, people got out of their cars to visit and help direct traffic.









Tomorrow is a visit to the Kohala coast.
