Newfoundland Explorer sunk During several of the presentations, I kept smelling an acrid smoke, like plastics or composites burning, but no alarm sounded. So, at the first break, I walked out of the ARVO meetings to find the aftermath of a boat fire that took out a 157 foot long yacht after a fire broke out in the engine room, resulting in a partial sinking. Its hard to tell if they will be able to salvage it or not, but I suspect it can be. The good thing about this fire is that even though ten firefighters were briefly trapped below decks, everybody escaped with their lives. Posted: Sat - May 1, 2004 at 08:06 AM |
