I hosted my good friend and colleague, Bärbel Rohrer to visit with us at the Moran Eye Center and to give a talk.  I first met Barb at my first international vision meeting, the RD Meeting in Perth, Australia, 14 years or so ago and there was something I liked about her immediately. I am pleased and honored to have her as a friend.  Professionally, and more recently, Barb and I have been working together on a project for a couple of years to explore the impact of complement on the eye, specifically as it relates to smoking and age-related macular degeneration.  This has resulted in a couple of papers, and we are planning on a couple more.  Look forward to seeing you and chatting some more at the next opportunity Barb.
