I am a week into my experiment with just carrying the iPhone X as a camera instead of a proper camera.  While I love the convenience of the iPhone as an imaging device, and am truly impressed with its image quality, I have decided that I’m missing a proper camera.

There is something about the formality of the camera interface that is important to the creative process.  The actions of invoking a camera are somehow like a kata or a mantra, pushing out complications and allowing a perceptual focus on the moment.  Ironically, smart phones as imaging devices do not get in the way enough…
