My friend Mike Rubin (@slcrubes) and I managed to scrape some time together after my grant went in, to run out for a bowl of ramen at Kobe. Mike is an infectious disease specialist at the University of Utah who, I came to find out many years later, was also the author of one of my most favorite Mac shareware games, Missions of the Reliant.
