My good friend and colleague Botir Sagdullaev dropped by to visit a little while ago to talk science and collaborate and get his portrait made in my office. Botir was one of the first people in the vision research community to understand the importance and relevance of retinal remodeling on retinal function. Years ago, just after we first published the retinal remodeling work, Botir met with Robert Marc and I in a Mexican restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida when he was a post-doc to talk about how this would impact rescues for vision research. He got it. As an electrophysiologist, he understood the impact to visual function long before many others in the community.
