I’ve said it before, but if you have enough photons, mobile phone cameras are getting remarkably good. This shot with the iPhone 7 camera has shocking amounts of detail with excellent color. If you zoom in on the full size image, you can see some jpg compression artifact, but it is no worse than jpg compression on a dedicated point and shoot camera and the level of detail really surprised me. If camera manufacturers want to stem the loss of sales, they are going to have to continue innovating. I typically carry an additional camera with me that has a larger imaging sensor with good optics as there is still no substitute for physics, but wow. iPhone 7 cameras are impressive.
