Poppy At 1/8000

Poppy_

Camera: Fuji X-Pro2
Exposure: 1/8000
Aperture: f/2
Focal Length: 23mm (35mm equivalent)
ISO: 200

This shot shows the value of an 1/8000 of a second shutter speed.  The room that Poppy was in was brightly illuminated, but metering off her eyes and letting the rest of the exposure fall where it may according to the Ansel Adams Zone System gives the impression she was in a dark room and nicely isolates her from the background.

  1. Except for when they’re sleeping, I find it very difficult to photograph my cats. Whenever I get close enough with the camera, they understand it as an invitation to climb all over me. Were you on the ground with your cat, or did you just place your camera on the ground and use the camera’s screen to frame?
