You get to see waaaay more walking back and forth to work than you do driving.  This robin (Turdus migratorius) was another bird seen in-between home and the lab, captured with the Fuji X-T1 and the Fuji 55-200 f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS lens.

Its funny, but since the American robin is such a common bird, perhaps the 2nd most common bird behind the red-winged blackbird, that I’d assumed that there were plenty of photographs in the collection.  It turns out that was not the case.  The good news is that they are easy to photograph and are often quite bold.  The downside is they tend to be a bit social when feeding and will alert the flock in response to any disturbance or potential predators (including camera wielding birders).

The 6fps burst speed of the X-T1 makes for excellent gifs.  In this case, a robin feeding on the softened berries from the previous season.  I was kinda shocked to see it take the whole berry, but it did this 6 times before flying off making for a heavy load indeed in such a small bird.

By the way, a nest of baby robins can be seen here, captured some time ago.
