Varied Thrush

Varied Thrush

This varied thrush (lxoreus naevius) was seen in Portland, Oregon.  Contrast on this shot was not great as the image was shot through a double paned window on one of the North West’s patented gray days with incredibly flat light.  Still, its the first varied thrush that I’ve ever photographed, so he counts.

  1. I was out in the west desert by Fish Springs a few months ago and saw throngs of these. Thought they were orioles at first until Peterson told me otherwise.

    1. Wild. I’ve never actually seen a varied thrush before this one. Sounds kinda weird to say that. I’ve probably seen them and not known what I’d been looking at.
