This mornings penumbral lunar eclipse was nothing spectacular from Salt Lake City with a subtle dimming of the moon, but I thought I’d shoot it just the same. Initially, it seemed that it was going to be a washout due to cloud cover, but clouds cleared in time to catch the moon going low over the horizon, though atmospheric noise prevented a terribly sharp image at 300mm. It was certainly nothing as sharp as the last harvest moon.
P.S. David, thanks for letting me know about the eclipse.
The peak of the eclipse appeared *after* the moon set behind the horizon and certainly after it had dropped past Antelope Island.
Morning deer hanging out and watching the eclipse with me.
Pretty cool. I like the shot over Salt Lake. 300mm is a lot of lens, but the results are terrific.
Thanks. They are cropped in a bit. One of these days, I’d love to get a say… 500 or 600mm lens. One of these days…
