Baden Baden, Germany

After a morning flight into Stuttgart and touring Porsche, I drove the hour over to where our meetings would be in Baden Baden to grab a meal, catch up on some work and get a good nights sleep before the meetings that would occupy the next 3 days started.

Unfortunately, most of the photographs of Baden Baden were at night after the meetings were over and I really did not get much of a chance to see Baden Baden in the daylight.  I would have loved to have seen the Roman bath ruins that helped make this city famous 2000 years ago (Baden is German for bath) as well as some of the other aspects of the absolutely beautiful and charming town, but that will have to wait for for a time in my life with a little more flexibility in the schedule.

Dinner in Baden Baden was had at a couple of places, but Leo’s in Baden Baden was the place I returned to for a second night.  Partially out of convenience as it was across the street from my hotel, the Steigenberger Eurospaischer Hof, but also because the food was pretty damned good.  Both the tuna fillet with wasabe mashed potatoes and the beef fillet with green beans were unsurprising and simple, yet excellent renditions of the forms and the German beer was as predicted, most tasty.

One of the nights in Baden Baden after the meetings let out, I grabbed a rather tasty street bratwurst and starting at the Lichtentaler Allee, took one of my patented intense travel walks late into the evening looking to get a flavor of a place on a schedule far to tight to actually build a complete picture, but enough to let me get the feel of a place.  It really is a beautiful town and one that I would love to return to for equestrian and other activities.

  1. I found this website via Google Images I lived in Baden-Baden for six months on my Mission. Your Images is how I remember it. I especially like the uphill night street photo. Thank you for posting
