Too Fly…

Camera: Canon 20d
Exposure: 1/60
Aperture: f/4
Focal Length: 100mm
ISO: 400

This is a focus stacked image with three separate exposures in separate focal planes combined to make for a more extended depth of field.  Three is all I could get before the fly moved.

  1. The nerve of that fly…moving while he’s getting his picture taken. Another incredible shot, Bryan.

  2. Thank you Maria! I actually made this photo quite a while ago when I first read about the possibility of focus stacking. The software was not there at the time, so busting these images out and using current algorithms was kinda fun.

  3. Nice! What software do you use for the stacking?

  4. There are a few options out there including Helicon’s Focus, the Extended Depth of Field plugin for ImageJ and Photoshop. I used Photoshop for this image.
