I made this image of a red Swingline stapler a little while ago while sitting in the office of Chris Johnson, director of the University of Utah’s Scientific Computing Institute. I simply could not resist making an image of this classic beauty of design and function.
Camera: Canon 1D MkIV
Exposure: 1/200
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 50mm
ISO: 400
I like the color.
But I really like the way you can see the texture of the painted metal on the top part. I can almost feel it with my eyes.
That 50mm lens is somethin’. Wide open you can almost see in the dark, stepped down a couple stops, its sharp as can be with amazing color fidelity… Oh and did I mention the buttah smooth bokeh?
