Looking Towards the Sun

I found this little guy on the hood of my car the other day.  This image of a jumping spider Phidippus audax was made with Canon’s EF MP-E 65mm Macro f/2.8 lens, handheld.

Camera: Canon 1D MkIV
Exposure: 1/125
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 65mm
ISO: 2500

  1. great shot , I was going to ask if the aperture was at 2.8 for that shot given the depth of field but I can now see its 5.6 – awesome for iso 2500 but then the 1dmkiv is an awesome piece of kit.

  2. Thanks. Its hard to get much more depth of field on that, particularly since jumping spiders move so much. There are ways of getting more depth of field (http://prometheus.med.utah.edu/~bwjones/2009/03/focus-stacking/), but sometimes they can be tough to do on living insects.
