Family Celebrations

H and I headed down to Southern Utah to meet up with family to celebrate the birthdays of my grandmother and nephew. The weather was not the greatest and it threatened rain and cold for the celebrations. Regardless, my sister persevered with her plans and pulled off a wonderful party.

On the way down, we took a detour and drove over the old highway to Las Vegas to see a stretch of road I’d not driven in a while and was amazed to find that many of the old buildings and even rusty cars are still by the side of the road, in the same place they had been 15 years ago.

When we got there, my nephew was busy running around in his new astronaut outfit complete with a helmet and lizard feet that had me laughing so hard at one point I could not stand up. It was like something straight out of a 1950’s SCI-FI movie and I hope to show him these photos some day when he is older.

My sister has been very busy preparing an amazing Martha Stewart like birthday environment for my nephew’s birthday including party lights in the barn, activities for the kids complete with carnival games and a cotton candy machine and a giant, bouncy castle. Family even travelled into town from out of the country to help celebrate and prepare the most amazingly delicious food. What follows below is a small sampling of the party.
